The band Toto was formed in 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro and David Paich (who were also highly acclaimed studio musicians with Boz Scaggs at the time) as well as bassist/singer Bobby Kimball. Lead vocalist Fergie Frederiksen is let go and replaced by Joseph Williams, son of legendary film composer John Williams and 1950s actress Barbara Ruick. The band released Mindfields in 1999 and embarks on a massive worldwide tour. After a few weeks in Europe the band travels to Japan for sold-out shows. After a short break, Toto resumes recording and continues to record their first live album titled Absolutely Live in 1993 which includes a cover of Weezer's song Hash Pipe in response to the band covering their hit Africa on their recent tour. Toto's touring band is rounded out by drummer Lenny Castro, bassist Shannon Forrest and keyboardist Shem von Schroeck.
