About Toto
The band Toto was formed in 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro and David Paich (who were also highly acclaimed studio musicians with Boz Scaggs at the time) and singer/bassist Bobby Kimball. Taking their name from the Latin word that means "all all-encompassing," the group was determined to explore every style of music.
In 1981 Toto's third album Turn Back is a failure However, they resurface with their fourth album Isolation with two hits including the title track and Roseanna. The album and tour makes Toto a household name across the world.
After a break of few years, Toto return with the album Fahrenheit in the year 1986. It is a departure from the ballads that were featured on previous albums and features some heavy rock. This was their first platinum album in North America.
When they record the band's fifth album the band loses their manager and are put in financial difficulty. They decide to change their name and make a new album using the new producer. Joseph Williams, the son of John Williams, the legendary film composer and actress Barbara Ruick from 1950s, replaces Fergie Frederiksen as lead singer. Joseph is an easier frontman than Frederiksen and gives the band a much-needed boost.
